What is Mental Health?

We all have mental health, just as we all have physical health. Mental ill health can strike at any time and can affect people from all walks of life.  Although things are improving, stigma still exists around mental ill health. As a society, we don't tend to know how to take care of our mental health like we do our physical health. This means that people may not know how to support a friend, family member or colleague experiencing a mental health issue, or where to go for support with their own mental health.

At Mental Health First, we are approved MHFA Instructors members accredited by MHFA England and the Royal Society for Public Health.  Our MHFA training is fully certified and regulated to ensure we providing the best in service solutions to you.

These courses are for individuals and businesses aspiring to become Mental Health Aware, Mental Health Champions or MHFAiders®, providing them with essential skills to recognise signs of poor mental health and initiate conversations, effectively guiding individuals toward suitable support.

Learners gain confidence in identifying indications of mental health issues and are equipped to commence dialogues and direct individuals to appropriate assistance. The training emphasises evidence-based Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) techniques.

To continue their learning, MHFAiders® receive a three-year subscription to the MHFAider Support App® as part of their training. This app serves as a continual resource, offering round-the-clock digital support, exclusive materials, and ongoing educational opportunities. Furthermore, it grants access to England's largest community of trained MHFAiders®, fostering an environment of ongoing learning and support.

These comprehensive programs not only equips individuals with vital skills but also provides long-term resources and a community to ensure continued growth and support in their MHFA roles.

These courses run online and face to face depending on your preferences and business requirements.
